Alright, the layout has changed and I'm hoping to do something about the background soon enough.  Thank you for being patient during the upgrade/change-over process and it will all be finished by later today.

Enjoy your day!

To get to class (and back again)! - OSU

I typically put very little thought into how I traverse to and from a place outside of traffic pile ups, how much gas it will take to reach my sought after destination and finally, how long until I can return home?  I've been tasked with stopping that habit for a time at least and really examining what is involved in my daily trek.  What do I pay attention to as I drive?  DO I even pay attention to anything visually that's not an obstacle from my getting to my destination?

I had to stop and really think about those questions for a while.  I think, no, I know I am guilty of not stopping to smell the roses lately because I feel that I have so much to do and such little time to accomplish it all in that any detraction from my focus is a huge detriment to my long term goals.  Fortunately, I have had some real, down to earth wake up calls from people and places I value the opinions of very highly.  Taking a different look at how I do get around, I've made a map and part of its directions take you photographic journey from my home to The Ohio State University - Main campus and back.

This should prove to be a very interesting take on how an every day activity can take on a completely different look and feel if one only takes the time to really see.

Thoughts on a few articles - OSU

I recently read three articles all detailing varying aspects of creativity.  The first article was actually apart of an interlude for a book, but it was titled "Ladies and Gentlemen, behold; The Enemy" written by Kidd.  This writing goes into detail about "The Enemy" and as I personally understood it to mean, the enemy being your public.  You have to constantly keep relative things in perspective - shape, size, emphasis on your design points coming across and design clarity in general.  They raised some very good points and ideas for things such as keeping your message simple and making sure you are conveying what you mean to convey with your message.  The article also goes into speak about not understating things either and finally, not to take for granted perspective and points of view.  The analogy they used referenced our looking down upon second dimension creatures and how limited their view was while we being in the third could be looked down upon by the fourth, them via the fifth and so on and so forth.

The second article I read was written by Dave Hickey and is titled "The Heresay of Zone Defense".  This basketball themed and oriented writing largely argued that the rules of anything be it in sports or life can be molded and changed but they also end up becoming our laws which restrict as well. He likened basketball's ever evolving into something beautiful and artistic where as art is devolving into something critical and confined.  I honestly felt this article was a bit too narrow minded in its scope as its underlying message was good, but the examples it was using could have been either phrased differently or removed all together.

Lastly, the Wired article "Why is this man smiling?"  written by Lawrence Weschler.  I found it interesting that the author was speaking about how unnatural trying to make artificial creatures look real is or feels to humans since Wired is a premier technologically backed magazine.  He goes in length on the varying obstacles we face with trying to cross the Uncanny Valley (A point where something artificially made reaches a point of looking 'too' real and the small differences prove disturbing to human beings visually) and other eye-appealing realisim-esque effects being applied.

All in all, I think these are very relative to someone in the digital art realm as you need a well rounded and fundamental understanding of the varying types of media at your disposal as well as surrounds you.

A humble start and a curious beginning.

Where to begin... well, here I guess is as good as any place isn't it?

My name is Terron and I thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to look at my little space on the internet. I'm from the green, hill-lacking country side of Dublin... Ohio. I am also 31 years of age and am a full-time father, full-time student, full-time soldier as well as a full-time lover (ha! I had to toss some comedy gold in there).

A blog is meant to be a number of things, and where I want this one in particular to head I'm not sure of yet. What I do know is I will be sharing a lot of my thoughts that I typically can't get out to you all, so bare with me in the start as I feel out what my niche is. I have a very strong desire to write and express myself via literary photographic means, so you may find that I post a lot of pictures or toss out a random rant here or there - Don't be alarmed. That type of behavior is normal for me; par for the course. I also want to note that the layout for this will be changing drastically with the welcome aid of someone I'll mention later as I develop myself here.

So I humbly ask that you sit back, relax and enjoy this long and verbal (and I hope mentally inspirational) journey with me as we explore the complexities and wonder that is my imagination and curiosity.

Welcome to my Blog.
